Disney unveiled the 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration logo on Sleeping Beauty’s castle on Thursday, May 21st before kicking off its year long celebration this Memorial Day Weekend when the gates to both parks open for 24 hours at 6 a.m. Friday morning.
We each have our own special memories of spending days with family and friends at Disneyland throughout the years.
Do you remember the first time you walked through Main Street and stared at awe looking up at Sleeping Beauty’s castle?
Do you remember not being able to sleep the night before you were going to Disneyland because you were too excited?
For those of us that grew up in Southern California, do you remember celebrating Grad Night at Disneyland?
Do you remember bringing your children to Disneyland for the very first time and seeing Disneyland through the eyes of a child?
Or do you remember the first time that you brought your grandchild to Disneyland?
Share with us your favorite Disneyland memories through the years.
As a long time Precious Moments collector, I was thrilled when Precious Moments partnered with Disney Resort. I had to bring this signed “60 Years of Happiness” home with me to add to my Disney Precious Moments Collection!

My favorite Disney memory still has to be the first time I met a Disney Character at the New York World’s Fair in 1964!
How awesome is that! I wish we still had the World’s Fair. To this day, you can still see Great Moments with Lincoln, It’s a Small World, and The Enchanted Tiki Room all which were shown at the World’s Fair.
Wow they are all so beautiful!
Thank you so much. I hope you get to see the castle in person soon.
My first half marathon was run at Disneyland just last year! I was so excited to run “backstage” and see the ins and outs of the park – I’m a Disney nerd! I read a bunch of books before we went and was so thrilled to walk in the park where Walt Disney himself had walked!
Good for you doing the Half Marathon! I support people from the sidelines with a Dole Whip or Mint Julep in hand! Ha! One thing that is great about Disneyland that Walt Disney World can never say is that Walt walked up and down Main Street and through the park talking to guests. Unfortunately, he passed before Walt Disney World broke ground.
I’m so sad me and my family couldn’t be a part of their celebration this year. We are huge Disney fans! We are saving for passes, which is expensive for a family of five, even with payments. My favorite memory would be getting the family dressed in Star Wars theme for Halloween it was hot but we still had fun!
Sorry to hear that you won’t make it this year. Be on the lookout for or listen to the radio stations (LA/OC/SD stations) for Family Pack Giveaways. We would love to see your picture of your Star Wars Themed Halloween Family. With permission, we could add it to our Gallery and make it a Reader’s Gallery that we can all share and enjoy!
What a fun giveaway! I love Disneyland and can’t wait to go back in November!

So excited for you! Any day is a great day at Disneyland.
So many wonderful ones. Some many stand out ones from going there on my honeymoon. Treated like royalty. MANY more will be made this fall when we go for my daughters fourth birthday.

I agree, every visit is a great visit. What a great dad to take your daughter to Disneyland for her birthday. What is she most excited to see or who does she want to meet?

I still see Disneyland through a child’s eyes ~~~ Mine! Disneyland is a place where you can always be young at heart.
I liked taking pictures with the characters.
I have had some great experiences too with the characters. Which one is your favorite?
When I took my daughter for the first time to Disneyland and seeing her face when she got to meet her favorite princess Cinderella!
Oh Cinderella is my favorite too. I remember when my daughter was three, she tied her shoe. It was such a cute picture. Amy’s favorite is actually not a Princess, but a Prince ~~~ The Beast! Her second favorite is Tarzan, oh I hope they bring him back in the parade His legs!!!
That would be a cute picture of her tying her shoe. Also, I was just on the Disney Wonder and in one of the shows saw Tarzan who was hot!
Going with my grandparents the first time! My Grandma was the leader:) She is the one who wanted to go on all the rides <3
Oh what was her favorite ride? I don’t think either of us went to Disneyland with our grandparents. That is a special memory for sure!
Last time we went was the first time we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, and that made our trip extra fun!
Oh we love staying at the Disneyland Hotel now that they remodeled it and redid the pool. How fun for you and your family! The Grand Californian Hotel is nice because it has an entrance into California Adventure.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read it. And I hope you get the chance to visit the park this year.
this looks like it was a lot of fun being apart of. I didn’t get to go to Disneyland very much as a kid. I think I went once as a kid and then a few times as an adult. I just really hate all the crowds there. I have to really plan for low crowd times in order to go. Kind of a pain but I’d rather get on more rides than to stand in line.
