On September 27th, 2018 Amy and I boarded the Queen Mary to stay the night inside the Queen Mary Hotel. Since Dark Harbor’s Media Night was the following night, we purchased tickets to see the Master Magician and Apparitionist Aiden Sinclair presents: Illusions of the Passed; Legends of the Queen Mary, A Theatrical Séance!
After spending the night and the following day on board, we were ready for the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor’s media night to begin.
After the Captain and the Ring Master opened the gates, we were greeted by the Dark Harbor monsters. We headed straight to Lullaby: Hush Hush Don’t Cry and then B340: A Descent Into Insanity.
2018 Mazes
One of the most important things that I have to mention this year is “Yes, you can get lost in a maze and yes, you can get separated from friends!” This was completely new this year. Amy and I were in B340 and she was ahead of me – or so, I thought! Since we are going as media, one of the things that we both do while walking through these mazes is, of course, take photos so that we can come back and share with you! {See Photos Below}
Since I didn’t want anyone else in my photos I would let the people behind me go ahead, take the photo, and then catch up with Amy. Well, there was one fork in the road where you can either go one way or you could go another. I stood there for a minute or so since I was unsure which way to go. Then, I saw this big group of people who were coming towards me saying that they went the wrong way so I waited a bit to see if Amy was with them and she wasn’t so I figured I must have missed her and followed the people along. I exited the maze and looked for Amy. She was nowhere. I waited and waited. Okay, I am not seeing her. I texted her and she didn’t respond. Finally, after 15 minutes she comes out from inside of the maze and says she was waiting for me! So, my recommendation to you is to stay with your friends inside the mazes. Believe me, it adds to the fright of the night to be separated from your friends at Dark Harbor!

The Ice Cave
New this year are the secret bars serving specialty cocktails in secret rooms located in three of the mazes and one somewhere else throughout Dark Harbor. To enter a secret bar, you will need to be in possession of the designated wood token for that specific bar. You will need to talk to the Dark Harbor Monsters, bartenders, or other attendants who are willing to trade tokens with you. {Spoiler Alert: The mazes that have the secret bars inside of them are B340, Circus, and Deadrise.}
One of the not-so-secret bars is The Ice Cave located next to the Intrepid. The Ice Cave bar is 9 degrees and they serve shots of flavored vodkas. There is a $9 fee for the experience and they will let you borrow a parka to wear. When we left the ice cave and turned in the parka, the attendant told us that we could go in the VIP line for Intrepid which was located right outside the exit. I am not sure if this was just for media night or not, but worth it to ask the attendant to find out if that is included as part of your $9 fee.
